E 200 CGI BlueEFFICIENCY and E 250 CGI

 BlueEFFICIENCY

Economical, powerful and low in emissions: that's the newly developed 4-cylinder petrol engines with direct injection in the E 200 CGI BlueEFFICIENCY and 250 CGI BlueEFFICIENCY. These primarily mainly impress with their direct responsiveness and smoothness of operation at all engine speeds. The E 200 CGI BlueEFFICIENCY has an engine output of 135 kW and maximum torque of 270 Nm, while the uprated E 250 CGI BlueEFFICIENCY variant supplies 150 kW and 310 Nm.

The low consumption figures for this new engine series are due in part to the relatively small displacement of 1.8 litres and turbocharger, as well as the improved CGI direct injection. By reducing the weight and the internal friction losses, the engine is particularly economical and meets the strict thresholds for consumption and emissions. From June 2010, the ECO start/stop function as standard in the E 200 CGI BlueEFFICIENCY with 6-speed manual transmission will also reduce fuel consumption and emissions by switching off the engine when the vehicle is standing still.

E 350 CGI BlueEFFICIENCY

Modern V6 technology is the basis of the new E 350 CGI BlueEFFICIENCY with direct injection. The petrol engine has a rated torque of 365 Nm at 3000-5100 rpm, delivers 215 kW and accelerates in 6.8 seconds from 0 to 100 km/h. Four-valve technology, variable camshaft control range for the intake and exhaust side, a two-stage intake manifold and a balancer shaft are amongst the technical details. The second generation of the Mercedes-Benz direct petrol injection with spray-guided combustion system and high-pressure direct injection via precise piezo injectors also ensures that the engine can function economically and with low emissions.

E 500

The E 500 is the most powerful engine for the new E-Class Cabriolet. The V8 engine has an output of 285 kW and develops a maximum torque rating of 530 Nm in the range between 2800 and 4800 rpm. Just 5.3 seconds are all this engine needs to accelerate the Cabriolet from 0 to 100 km/h – a peak value.

AIRCAP draught-stop system

Open-air driving for four: the optional AIRCAP system is the first of its kind in the world and comprises an electrical air deflector module at the front of the roof frame plus a draught stop between the rear head restraints.

When driving with the top down, the air deflector module can direct the airflow over the entire vehicle interior at the push of a button, thus extending the arc of air beyond the passenger compartment. The system can be activated at speeds of up to 160 km/h, tangibly reducing draughts while also cutting disturbing turbulence, particularly in the rear seats. The innovative AIRCAP system also reduces noise, facilitating conversation.

A 6.3-litre naturally-aspirated V8 engine, 336 kW (457 hp), 600 Nm of torque, 0 to 100 km/h in 4.5 seconds (Estate: 4.6 seconds), top speed 250 km/h – the specification and performance data of the new C 63 AMG speak for themselves.

But the only way to really appreciate the calibre of this exceptional vehicle is to drive it. The fifth generation of the AMG C-Class offers a perfect blend of extraordinarily impressive performance and expressive design. Outstanding power and agility are guaranteed by the combination of the AMG V8 engine and the perfectly matched AMG sports suspension with a newly developed, wider front axle and AMG speed-sensitive sports steering. The 7-speed AMG SPEEDSHIFT PLUS 7G-TRONIC automatic transmission ensures optimum delivery of engine power to the road, enhances driving dynamics with its ultra-smooth downshifts and makes for an even more enjoyable drive with its throttle-blip function. The new, specially optimised three-stage Electronic Stability Program ESP® and the AMG high-performance brake system also play key roles in delivering a safe and enjoyable driving experience.

But the really great thing about the C 63 AMG is that it is a genuine Mercedes-Benz in every respect – with all that that implies with regard to long-distance comfort, handling and safety – and offers an ideal combination of high performance and everyday practicality.

True attraction: the design

The C 63 AMG looks powerful even from the outside. Take for example the new engine bonnet with two pronounced powerdomes as well as the special AMG radiator grille with its central star and two chromed louvres. The chrome-edged fog lamps which extend outwards emphasise the width of the vehicle, as do the flared front wings. The side air vents in the front apron provide an outlet for the heat from the additional oil-cooler. When equipped with the optional bi-xenon headlamps or the Intelligent Light System, the C 63 AMG features dark-tinted headlamp lenses. From the side, the high-sheen 18-inch AMG light-alloy wheels in a titanium grey finish, the shapely integral "6.3 AMG” lettering on the wings and the AMG side skirts catch your eye. From the back the AMG rear apron with black diffuser inserts and three distinctive diffuser fins plus the AMG sports exhaust system with two chrome twin tailpipes and standard tail lights with LED technology set the accents typical of Mercedes. The AMG spoiler lip on the boot lid reduces lift and provides better driving stability.

Exclusive optional features are available for the C 63 AMG from the AMG PERFORMANCE STUDIO. These include the AMG Performance Package, high-sheen 19-inch multi-spoke AMG light-alloy wheels painted in titanium grey and AMG carbon-fibre trim elements. Seat comfort

Attractive to look at, and impressively comfortable – the B-Class seats. They are upholstered in “Utrecht” fabric, in a choice of orient beige, black or alpaca grey. The upholstery combination ARTICO man-made leather/“Maastricht” fabric is available as an optional extra and also forms part of the sports package. Or you may prefer to upholster your B-Class in fine leather – the choice is yours. You can be sure of finding the ideal seat position – the driver’s seat is even height-adjustable as standard. A height-adjustable front passenger seat and other extras are contained in the optional seat comfort package.

The A-Class engines are true athletes – and thrifty too. The petrol engines are now even more powerful, while the specially developed diesel engines impress especially through the enormous torque they offer. The performance ranges from 60 kW (82 hp) up to 103 kW (140 hp).  Ride Comfort

The A-Class doesn’t care where you are going. The selective damping system, together with the parabolic axle and the electronically controlled power steering, turns every trip into pure driving pleasure. The modified chassis, the wider track and the longer wheelbase all add to the ride comfort of this car. And of course the engines play their part too, delivering the kind of performance that need fear no comparison

Exterior

Our designers' goal was to give the A-Class Saloon a sporty presence. Dynamic forms and lines set the tone and cut a fine figure: there is the attractive and sporty front end with its sweeping clear-lens headlamps, the powerful feature line which emphasises the length of the vehicle as it rises steeply towards the rear, and the wide track with sculpted wings. This section of the side, in particular, gives the saloon its distinctive character.
